Euney Marie J. Mata-Perez

Euney Marie J. Mata-Perez is the Managing and Founding Partner of Mata-Perez, Tamayo & Francisco (MTF Counsel). She is a certified public accountant and a member of the Philippine Bar.

She is a highly regarded tax practitioner and has been consistently recognized among the Top 100 lawyers in the Philippines by the Asia Business Law Journal and a top tax practitioner in the Philippines by Chambers & Partners, among others.

Euney brings to the practice not only a rich 33 -year experience in tax, transactions, corporate reorganizations and other corporate matters, but also a keen business insight as a certified public accountant, enabling her to identify and help resolve the issues that shape business needs.

Singled out for her discerning insight, she has been invited to explain the complexities of tax laws and speak at local and international forums, such as conferences sponsored by the International Tax Review, Asia-Oceana Tax Consultants Association, Inc., and TAXAND, as well as contributing to several foreign and local publications, including CCH Doing Business in Asia, the Ateneo Law Journal, and the TMAP Technical Journal. She is also an author at The Manila Times.

Euney led the Tax Management Association of the Philippines, the country’s leading association of tax practitioners and professional, as its president in 2013. She was also the President of Asia-Oceana Tax Consultants Association, Inc., the regional organization of tax professionals’ bodies from various countries in the Asean and Oceanic regions, for the years from 2018 to 2022.

She is a law professor at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law and currently serves as the Chair of the Tax Committee of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP). She has also served as an independent director, director, and corporate secretary for various Philippine corporations.

She has acted as counsel for various multinational corporations, conglomerates, family corporations, and high net worth individuals.

Euney earned her degree of Juris Doctor and graduated salutatorian of her class at the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, where she was the Associate Editor of the Ateneo Law Journal. She graduated summa cum laude in her undergraduate course of Bachelor of Science in Commerce, major in accounting, from the University of San Carlos, Cebu City. She is also a graduate of the Strategic Business and Economics Program of the University of Asia and the Pacific.

She is active in various civic and religious organizations such a Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX), NextGen Organization of Women Corporate Directors (NOWCD), Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), Shareholders’ Association of the Philippines (SharePHIL)IL, Tax Management Association of the Philippine (TMAP).

She was formerly with the law firms of SyCip, Salazar, Hernandez & Gatmaitan and Salvador & Associates.
